You probably wouldn't think to use the flash on an already bright, white, snowy scene but I've learned that's the only way to get the cool snowflakes whizzing by effect. I never took an official measurement but I think it's safe to assume we got 2 feet this weekend.

Christmas light bokeh... it's bit kitschy but still cool how easily you can manipulate your camera to create this effect. Cut a heart shaped hole out of a piece of paper (or any shape for that matter). Then cover your lens with it. And shoot in manual focus.

Backyard fun with my nephew. He's gotten used to being around my camera. I let him shoot with it, too. Although he has yet to master looking through the eye piece. He practices the aim and shoot technique. :)

Took a walk through Georgetown to get some shooting in with the 85mm f1.4 lens. This tourist bus was stopped in traffic.

I rented the lens for the weekend thinking I might eventually want to buy it. It's a great, fast lens and I've seen others take really fantastic photos with long focal length, big aperture lenses but not sure I'll have much of a need for it. I've talked myself out of it for now. The large price tag also played a heavy role in that decision. Why can't the camera people just make every lens fast? :)
